Hi
I have a logo created in Illustrator and imported this into Photoshop as a shape layer. I now want to use the 3D function on this , but all 3D is greyed out. And Yes , my computer supports 3D.

Could You please give me a hint in the right direction ?

Regards
Peter

I am not to sure about 3d in photoshop I use Cinema 4d and it is a simple process but maybe photoshop is more picky if you are exporting from illustrator does that mean your document is now cmyk maybe convert it to RGB if so, Also what is the bit of the file 8 bit 16 bit or 24 bit etc I think photoshop will only support 8 bit in 3d but this is just me guessing.

I think photoshop supports OBJ files doesnt it so as long as it is relatively simple paths you can post your illustrator file here and if I get time depending when you post it I can make it 3d and turn it into a 3d object model for you, Yet again cant guarentee photoshop can handle obj files but seems stupid if it cant as that is the universal 3d model file structure.

This one is interesting, try watching this video to see if this helps.

I also found this discussion on importing Illustrator files into Photoshop. READ ALL FOUR PAGES BEFORE YOU TRY ANYTHING!

Interesting indeed. I paste from Ai to Ps a lot, and if it's a big image, I do it piece by piece & re-layer / piece together. I'm yet to try the 3D.

Thanks IamSam, useful link.

Thanks
I will try to read the discussion and see the video J
I’m trying to use this tutorial on my own logo
"Create a Glowing 3D Text Effect With Filter Forge and Photoshop" from psd.tutsplus.com

I will have a test as soon as I can, but I had a little play with the problem mentioned in the discussion link earlier. I don't know when it changed, but I was able to export from Ai to PSD, complete with full Layers.

Try it this way and see if you get any better results on the 3D being available.
