I'm trying to do a simple head swap using CS3 extended. Here are the steps that I have done.

I use the Pen tool to make the selection. Once I get the entire head selected I right click and choose make selection. Then I have to choose a different tool because I cannot choose copy or cut with the pen tool selected. (does that happen to you?) Then I cut or copy the selection from Image 1 and paste it onto image 2.

Here is the problem. Once I paste my new head onto Image 2 all I can see is the outline of the pasted head. There isn't really a head there though. Here is an image of what i see once I paste my new head onto the image I'm trying to change.

Man I hope one of you can help me out. This is a pretty easy task from what i've seen online and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

you have copied the path not the selection

So what do I need to do? If it's an easy explanation I'd love one. If not maybe point me in the right direction.

I'm not sure of the difference between drawing paths and making a selection. How do I make a selection instead of a path?

I appreciate the reply.

right click your pentool path you made click make selection, copy> to clipboard paste > to image there you have it

Ok first question is, are any of your suggestions different using CS5 because I just installed that. Also thanks for the replies.

Steve, do you know where I can find some help or tutorials on using a mask?

Can you guys point me in the direction of some good tutorials so I can get my knowledge up? I hate to keep asking questions that I can easily find answers to.

Again I appreciate the help.

ok so switching to CS5 fixed the issue I was having. At least it made the default selection instead of path so now it's working. I need so much educating on this software.
