Selecting Corner Handle in distort

Hi. I need some help with the following problem, under the Transform command I use the distort function quite a bit, usually to correct lense distortion. When using the distort function I use the mouse to select a top left or top right corner handle and drag it to a point where I am happy with the result. This is where I need your help; I want to do the same but instead of using the mouse I want to use the keyboard direction arrows to effect the same change. At present if I select the left top corner handle, and I use the keyboard arrows the whole image moves in that direction. It will not apply the same action as the mouse does. The reason for wanting to use the keyboard is I want more control over the correction. I find using the mouse a bit all over the place in getting the correct point. Thanks for taking the time to read, hope you can help.
Cheers Gavin :banghead:

Gavin, based on everything I can find, you can't use the arrow keys to directly control the handles directionality like the the mouse does. Maybe someone else will know about something I have not found yet.

I've had that problem, I find I have more control if I zoom in really close and use pixel grid

Hi Sam, Thanks for the feedback, would be like me to get stuck with a problem that PS does not do. Hope someone can prove us wrong. Cheers Gav

Thanks for the feed back iDad, when you talk about a pixel grid are you referring to " ctrl / comma " which then brings up a grid over the image?

no sure what the command is but in menu bar look at >View >Show> Pixel grid

I have had this problem as well and I like your solution very much. thanks for mentioning it, it will def come in handy.

If you are simply correcting lens and/or perspective distortion on a photographic image, there are much better ways to do it than dragging around the corners of the transform tool.

One can use either the adjustments provided in the "lens correction" tab in ACR, or use the filter called "lens correction" in PS.

If you want to add your own creative touch on top of what these tools can provide, I find that I get better results if I use them first to get to a nice looking, fully corrected image, then tweak specific objects within the image using the transform tool.

HTH,

Hi Tom, Been watching some of the Adobe video clips online about CS5 functions and options and the Raw lens correction looks very good, and I will use them, but it would be nice to have a more refined touch when working in the "distort" setting. Thanks for taking the time to give your input. Cheers Gavin

You are quite welcome, Gavin.

If you are so disposed, why don't you post some of the images you are creating? We'd love to see them.

Tom
