Hello, I have a psd or jpg file with a regular text in black, its coming from a PDF, with white background, is there a way to select only the text and convert to vector? I can´t find a way to select the text. I saw there are options for vectoring, like "make work path" with the selection tool. My problem here is to select the objects (fonts in this case).

Hello and welcome. Without seeing what you are working with, here is one way to select text and vectorize it..

1. Go to Select > Color Range. Select “Shadows” from the drop down menu and adjust the Fuzziness and Range to your liking. In this case I will set the Fuzziness to 100% and the Range to 150. When you are happy with the selection click OK.

2. With the selection active, select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) and right click over the selection. From the drop down menu select “Make Work Path”.

3. In the Make Work Path window, set the Tolerance to 1 or 1,5 pixels and click OK.

You will be left with an editable path.

Thanks a lot. My fonts are regular 11 size "Arial", so I can´t get accurate lines with this method, mainly in the curves and corners of the fonts. The vectors don´t adjust to the borders.

I see.

Sorry so late with a reply...........very busy!

Again, I'm not sure about the entire scope of what you're working with. It's difficult without an example.

You say it a PSD or a JPG file??? You're not sure which one. It's from a PDF and has a white background. It's regular type size 11 in Arial. You say the above technique can't be used due to the font size.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the easiest in the long run. Just re-type the text. In the time you have spent looking for a shortcut, you could have easily typed out (20 pages) of new text that can be converted to a vector path or shape. Size of the type would not matter in the PSD file, as it can be edited.

Hi @Maltess
I may a bit confused as well.

If the original text is in a PDF, it may already be in vector format in the PDF. If the PDF file is all rasterized information, Adobe Acrobat can do OCR (optical character recognition) which would then allow the text to be copied and pasted as text in other applications (aka Text being vector format).

So one consideration is going back to the source file and seeing how to get what you need from there. It was also not clear how many pages are involved for the text.

If OCR is not possible, @IamSam mentioned good options as well about having the text typed by hand.

More details from you and/or the PDF file (or a sample page) would go a long way for forum members to provide more targeted recommendations.
Just a suggestion
