is it possible to move up the screen somewhat like shown in the image? i'm using cs3.

I'm not really sure what you mean...

Try to be as in depth as you can. But if I'm right in thinking, hold down spacebar+click and hold then drag the canvas to your liking.

I could be wrong.
 
sorry. what i meant is that to have space on top of the canvas.
like when zooming out, you see the canvas with the graybackground. but once you zoom in, there are no graybackground on the canvas edges. for me it is very annoying when painting near the edge.

I am not sure I understand what you're asking are you referring to workspace or outside workspace window
 
Try clicking on the Magnify tool then click on Fit Screen at the top.

The grey BG will disappear when you zoom in because it will increase the size of the canvas.
 
I see the difference in the first two....outside of zooming (control + or -) not sure why the difference in placement of your canvas
 
Sorry. the second image is edited; what i actually wanted in the workspace window.

yes, i'm wondering if it is possible to zoom in the the workspace while still retaining the gray background on the edge outside. I prefer to have a separation between the workspace and the window, like in PaintTool SAI.
