I have noticed that when given ideas on how to improve or create things, via member requests the answer normally ends with a save as a PNG over say Jpeg, why is that please.
What is the difference in formats and what are the benefits in doing so?
Thanks.

Thanks.

On a side note, when i try to open a PNG file with my CS2 it shows this, what do i do to open them please?

That's because the file could be corrupted in some way.

Then sometimes, image files get manhandled by ISP's on their way across the net. Take PSG, for instance.... I download anyone's avatar, I get that message when I open the files in PS. But I can view the files with windows viewer.

My workaround is to open in the viewer, take a screenshot and paste in a new document in PS, crop to size.
