saving incomplete projects

I have Elements 10. Is there a way to save projects that I am working on as incomplete projects when I shut down PS and my computer? So that when I open them again, like all the layers are separate and everything just how I left it?
 
Save as .psd file? Oh elements 10 Not sure about that program
 
You're welcome,much easier way to say thank you is to just click Thanks button far lower corner under the posters info...... Good luck!
