i have an animated gif banner i did, and would like to get the file size down more. how can i achieve this.
using PS CS

You can't. :D

You'll need to use ImageReady. Just open the file into IR and at the top of the document window click the "Optimize" tab. Then look on the rightside for your Optimize palette. Experiment with changing the palette size (Palette Table). You can check the new file size by looking along the bottom of the document window.

Check the animation i've created. It shows these steps in detail.

Any problems feel free to ask.

PS: Welcome to the community btw. 8D

using your info, i managed to get the 334K image down to 268K using the web (restrictive) setting.
the original was 170K. much better. i hope they can use it.
i did a banner with snow falling and offered similar to another forum. i wonder if i drop a layer if i can get it down further. i did export to flash and its a respective 54K but i dont know if the guy can work the extension into his forums.

Good to hear species.

If you can manage to drop some frames you'll get the file smaller for sure.

Any forum can handle flash, that's not a big deal. It's the same thing as putting it into an basic html page. If he's just inserting the banner say, in the header position, then it'll run without issue. I'd use that format if at all possible because it allows for better quality with a small footprint.

The only real time flash is an issue in forums is whether they wish to allow others to post flash images in posts.
