Hi there New to the whole Photoshop thing. And was using it to feather the edge of some pics for use in Microsoft office Publisher however after saving as .JPG or GIF and opening in MS publisher the feathered background appears white instaed of transparent though in PS it is transparent. When saved as a GIF the feather dows not show at all and the background is white. My question is is there a way to say the image so when I use it in MS Publisher the outside of the feather is transparent so I get a good fadeeffect to the actual background colour. Thank you for you time and help.

TIF, PNG and GIF all have options for transparency.

Your best bet is probably Save for Web and Devices --> PNG-24 and make sure transparency is checked.

I use InDesign instead of Publisher, so I am not sure on this, but you might also be able to import the PSD directly into Publisher.

Ok thank you I will try that..Ah thanks a mil I tried the PNG option and that worked Did exactly what I wanted thanks again.
