Rubber problems

When i select a selection on a project and use the rubber tool or the 'Del' key it removes outside the selected area.

Select-Inverse to reverse the selection before you hit delete. BTW it's called the magic wand tool.

I don't know why i have the wand tool on in the screenshot but i have the right part selected. When i use the eraser tool it goes over the part i selected, but only a certain amount.
