Round photo corners

I'd like to crop or edit some photos so they would have rounded corners. Sounds like it should be easy but I can't seem to figure it out. can anybody help?

Duplicate the background layer.
Fill the original background layer with white.
Make a rounded rectangle path, the size you want the final crop to be.
In the Paths palette, make a selection out of the path.
Press Alt-Shift-I to invert the selection.
In the Layers palette, add a layer mask.
