Hi. Very new here.

I'm trying to add an outer glow to a round object but PS is treating the object as a square (it has transparent background material forming the square).

I either need a method to crop the image so that only the round image itself is involved, or see if there's an accurate method add to a circular outer glow.

if you control click the layer preview icon does it make a square selection or a circular 1 around the item.

If the answer is square then you have excess pixels somewhere towards the outside of the layer and ps is reading that as part of the image.

Grab the quick select tool and select the circle then go to select > inverse and use the eraser tool and erase everything as you have selected the inverse to the circle it should stay in tact

As Hoogle stated....Select the round area...or remove the (square) extra pixels
