Resolution/DPI help.

Hokay well I made this picture with multiple programs and now I would like to have a 3 inch by 3 inch sticker made. Dude at stickermule said that my current img was half of what it needed to be and that 300DPI was the min.
NP, so I open it up in photoshop I go to Image/Image size and I change the resolution there to 300. The nice gent at stickmule told me that "Increasing the DPI of an image file that is under 300 DPI will not improve the quality of the artwork."
So now im at a bit of a lost...

Can any body out there (I mean here.) Get a higher quality of this so I can have my stickers made. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What I would do is take that image and put it at 1500 resolution, open new document 5 x 5" take the increased resolution image drag it over to the new document use the transform tool with the shift button pushed while transforming size. I think you may be in luck because of the colors the edges of the smoke feathered the way they are also will be helpful in what you're trying to do it won't look too bad at all

There are a certain number of pixels in this images.
When you increase the resolution of an image Photoshop basically guesses what the new pixels should look like.
Using the correct image interposition method helps but PS is creating something from nothing.

The result is usually a loss of sharpness.
The image will be larger but the quality will go down.

The best option is to recreate the image with the right specs, if that's not an option increase the images size in PS and live with the results.

I have a program called Perfect Resize that does a better job than PS in my opinion.

Lol I just just played around with my idea and it came out awesome 5"x5" 1500 is over kill but that's no biggie a biggie file though LOL
