resizing images and keeping the dpi

I work as an admin assistant in a company where we have a lot of website customers who want to be able to have the best pictures for their websites.

I'm fairly new to photoshop - but I know the basics, resizing cropping etc.

What I wanted to know is how to resize an image (from a full size PSD) to 1000x1000 pixels BUT keeping the 300dpi?

As it stands, when I am resizing at the moment they drop to about 96dpi - some slightly less.

Struggling a bit with this and if anyone could give me some help i'd really appreciate it!

Cheers
Jess

I think it's scale styles found within the image resizing drop down, take the tick out of the box.
Then you can do what size you wish and keep your 300 pixels in tact.

Hi Jess, welcome to PSG.

I am not sure you are using the right terminology here. What you say is happening is unusual to say the least. You may need to reset the program. But ... are you having this occur when you are saving? Are you using "save for webs and devices?" This option will automatically change the dpi to 72 or 96 to make it compatible at the current size for web viewing.

If you are at a loss, try this:

Start Photoshop and immediately hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).

Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

This will reset your preferences to their default settings.

I hope this helps. Let us know if it doesn't. Or if it does. Thanks.
