Resize accurately?

I'm trying to get this image an appropriate size to make it a Facebook timeline photo (so like, 849x312, or as close as possible). But I can't manage to do this without making the words not visible, or covered up by the profile photo, or without cutting off people's heads! Can anyone help me?

Crop to the correct size....

Then add the text in yourself. It's only white text with a black stroke. I think the font is Ariel or Myriad Pro.

To keep the aspect ratio and not make the image look like a stretched one... I just resized the image to keep the text readable.

The to fill the left and right sides, the copied the part of the image and duplicated on both sides..
