Reset CS4 tools due to Type not functional - now all tools are set to weird settings.

Hey, fellow PS obsessives -

Working with CS4 here, which has met my needs lo these 4 years.

From time to time, my type tool won't let me enter letters. What I usually do is trash the preferences, and that fixes the problem.

However, after a recent preference-trashing, all my tools - wand, marquee, brush/pencil, etc. --

All give me this little funny-looking icon, as seen below, instead of showing me the size of the tool, etc. You can see, in this screen shot, that I have the clone icon selected, and what shows up on my screen is what shows up on my screen. A dot with 4 lines each heading north, south, east and west.

I've been to many a message board and a variety of googleisms, but still cannot get my tools back to what they were.

Any assistance/advice appreciated, thank you very much!

Go to Edit|Preferences|Cursor and change to the cursor you want.
You're currently using "Precise".

Another alternative is to Reset the tool by going to the top of the tool palette and right clicking then select Reset Tool.
