Request - Image Adjustment for Printing a Poster

Hi gang :)

First time poster here, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take a look at this picture, it's a still from the TV series Dexter, and season 1 and 2 of Dexter are somewhat sacred to me as far as cinema goes. The image is taken from season 2, where a love interest of Dexter creates a painting that totally embodies his character. It would be amazing to have it printed and mounted in my entertainment room! :rocker:

The image is quite raw, and I have such little experience with any kind of photo editing that I wouldn't have any clue what would need to be done to improve the quality or resolution for a decent sized poster, but if anyone is willing to donate their time to help me out with this dream of mine I would sincerely appreciate it. Any kind of artistic flair is totally welcome as long as the essence of the image/character remain.

Without further ado, the screencap:

Thanks for reading! Hope someone is intrigued enough to help a brotha out!

Re: Request - Printing a poster

Welcome to PSGurus.

Although the guys here prefer to walk visitors on how to do this in Photoshop, there are those who from time to time are willing to help you out with the edit.

Just sit back and wait for a response to your request.

Have a nice day....

Re: Request - Printing a poster

Thanks, dv8_fx, for the warm welcome. I know it's quite an ask that I'm putting out there, it's just that my photoshop skills are borderline nonexistent, and I would be more of a hindrance to the process! haha

I totally understand if people think I'm asking too much, I just thought I'd put it out there in case someone were to be intrigued by the project :)

I am new and this is my first post. I post on Twitter. And I have seen that any post that ends up with the extention of jpg:large or png:large works good and one can instead see the actual image instead of a link. I make mines fro ipad, and assume the format is jpg. but my link does not end up with extension :large

What do I do ?

@OP - I hate to be a party-pooper, but I'm worried about copyright issues, not only for myself, but for the owners of this forum if I/we refine this image for the explicit purpose of making it suitable to be printed as a poster and then publicly post the result. My concern is the same whether or not it is for one copy (presumably), or many, because we have no control over the number eventually produced once we publicly post such a file.

It appears that this image was written into the script and was created specifically for the show, so presumably, the producers of the show or their assignees / licensees hold the copyright to all images from the show, including stills like this one.

It further appears that this image is available from at least several different companies that sell wallpapers and posters, so they are probably /hopefully legally licensing it from the show. If this image was created by some unknown artist and was little-known, so that no one was interested in, the chances of legal problems would be negligible, but Googling the image shows that lots of people are interested in it and want to sell it, so the chances of legal problems are much higher because a copyright violation would be interfering with the ability of these people to make money (legally) from this image.

My suggestion is to simply buy a poster from one of these firms and let them deal with any possible legal repercussions (should they be a bootlegger not a licensee). In fact, purchasing a poster from them will likely be of higher quality and cost you no more, and possibly less than if you printed it yourself.

As dv8 said, we are happy to teach people how to use photoshop, but can't engage in what appears to be an obvious copyright violation.

Sorry,

Tom

I totally understand, the thought crossed my mind as well but I assure you my intentions were totally innocent. The last thing I would want to do is get anyone into trouble or cause an awkward situation regarding copyright issues! I've definitely looked online to buy the poster but most have been sub-par quality, poorly cropped, or redrawn. This was the best depiction I could find and thought I'd send out a feeler to see what could (or couldn't :P) be done with it.

Thanks for taking your time to reply. :)

Thanks for your understanding. Personally, I know perfectly well that u aren't about to start producing these by the thousands LOL, but even so, I can't publicly support or abet copyright infringement.

Sorry,

Tom
