Request for a quick removal of background from an image

Hi, I have tried to remove the pink background from the attached image, but apparently my lack of skills causes the result to be too crude with some details from the important image being lost. Could someone please remove the pink background and the text and leave only the central figure? This also includes the spaces between the fingers - which had proved even harder for me to clear of the pink background. I need the image to be with a transparent background but can't quite get it done myself. Thanks in advance!

PS: On closer inspection, it seems that the central figure was perhaps pasted over a layer with the pink background, while the said central figure had certain transparent spots here and there (left eye/left thigh/right side of the neck) - and which are now pink. I guess that's irreversible - perhaps instead of transparent spots, the original image had some different color at these places and the removal of the pink spots would create "holes" in the image... I do plan to use it on black/dark grey background, but I'm not really sure if removing the pink parts from there wouldn't actually deteriorate the image... However, with the rest of the background around the central figure removed, the result would still look well, methinks.

Try this first. Select the pink with the eyedropper. Then do Select/Color Range. Move the fuzziness slider until u just have the pink masked. Hit OK and you will have the selection. Then enter the Delete key. You should be able to clean it up from there with the eraser tool.

ALB is spot on.....color range should work well. Use the slider....slowly

Well...it looked good in theory. As u can see I sent from my phone. I'll try it also when I get to the computer.

Yeah, I thought it was a great idea Larry, I just could not get the selection to work well enough. There are too many pinks within the body area that were also being selected with the BG. I was going to have to mask the body anyway so I just switched over to a alpha channel selection.

Quick tip once you have made your selection you may want to add a black and white adjutment layer and only paint it in where the chains are to get rid of that magenta fringing around them.

Just be careful not to over do it like i have done here because if you put a different colour background on it may look worse
