Request: Desktop Wallpaper?

Hi guys, I'm a complete noob when it comes to Photoshop so I'm not sure how time consuming this is for you. I understand if it is asking too much. I'd like a desktop wallpaper which will fit a screen resolution of 1440x900 The idea I had in mind was a simple background of black marble/industrial steel etc.

Then on the background I'd like the attached photo in the center. However can the image have an effect as if the outline been engraved into the "marble" background?

Is this even possible?
