For some reason I cant paint the flower that lays on the flower with the same color of the bow. replacement color tool just isn't working. any idea?Capture.jpg another question. what would be the best way to get the background to be completely white 255?

Because you actually have multiple colors in the bow and the one on the floor. The replacement brush will only react to one color at a time. If you have made a color selection in the bow (your source) then start applying to the target, it only applies the source color to the first color it encounters in the target. Works pretty good with some things, some not.
Best way probably to change the BG to white would be with Select/Color Range or Edit/Replace Color.

How about this John.

Mask the flower or flowers (I only did one) with your pen tool. Create a layer mask. Add a hue & Sat layer and adjust to your liking. The color replacement tool is a poor choice for this type of work.

The best way to get the background white would be to shoot the original photo with a white background. Masking out the subject, including the hair, is a long, tedious, skilled task. Not many can do this in post and make it look right.

The color here is not exact, but it's close enough to demonstrate the process.

I used magic wand (yes i can hear the sharp intakes of breath) purely for speed, refined edge/colour picked the lightest of the pink and painted in some areas of large flower, then picked darkest colour of bow and painted in other areas of flower, did a blur of colours converted to screen and lowered opacity slightly.

I did this rather quickly but you'll get the idea... selective color adjustment layers.

The problem I see with some of the above methods is that they sacrifice contrast for color. I don't think there's a good solution unless the bunch of flowers are actually selected and dealt with separately. I'm sure tat was done, but I'm personally not satisfied with the results. I think the ideas definitely capture the color change though.

I would try several things including levels or curves to add some contrast and get some of those defining shadows back. Another way might be to reproduce the flower bunch and move a copy above the color changed flowers. Then try several methods. Perhaps blend if to remove the light rosy color and leave only the deeper shades, then try blend modes or add a hue sat layer to that result but without adjusting the lightness slider much.

Another method to try would be to use that same duplicate layer and desaturate it, play with blend modes and opacity changes or just opacity change instead of changing the blend mode.

I have not tried anything and may have time later, so my suggestions may end up totally worthless! I guess it depends on what final effect you're looking for. I'll see if I can use some of the above results and the original to test my theories, lol.

I added a few layers to Hawkeye's. His color is spot on, do I tried to add some contrast. Part of the problem with these flowers is that the color is oversaturated.

Anyway, I came up with this. I marked each layer in a screen capture so you can see what I did. I made a rough selection of the original (got a little of the jumper in there) and used that to make the alterations. I'm sure there are other may be better ways, as there always is in PS. You might even try changing the bow to match a bit to the flowers as ALB did. Paul's method worked well too though I htink you want the color lighter, which could be done by the same method he used, and he kept nice shadows.

I took the easier route, I let the bow match the flowers instead of vice versa. I didn't figure it was important which color was which. Good job guys and lady  Why didn't y'all deal with the background?

One thing I have learned here at PSG, is that for one reason or another (monitors, etc.) almost all of us see colors differently! I'm always amazed with these threads at the variations presented!

This thread provides support that making these changes in post can be extremely challenging and the Color Replacement Tool is not equipped for the job!

Those are excellent, very appropriate comments, Sam.

FWIW, I *never* use the color replacement tool.

Mask them with the tool of your choice, then apply a hue adjustment, preferably with an adjustment layer with a mask You will probably need to colorize. That's it.
Thank you guy a tons for your help! I have another picture, how can I make the letters ONE pink instead of white?View attachment 34978
