replace colours with photoshop

hi all,need to be able to replace colour of an item in photoshop.example is below.thanks in advance on how to achieve this.

You do use Photoshop, do you?

There's 2 ways to change color,,,,

Apply a HUE AND SATURATION adjustment layer on the image...

Doing that will certainly change the colors of everything. So .....

Make a layer duplicate of the image.

Use the magic wand tool to select the colored casing.

Apply a pixel mask to the layer

Apply the Hue and Saturation adjustment layer. Make sure to select the grouping icon so that the adjustment affects only the layer directly below it and not the first layer.

Hue/sat adjustment layer, select green from the dropdown box. Mask areas you don't want to affect.

this is my image and i would like to change it to Red,also blue.i would reply appreciate help on this.can you supply a psd so i can follow it better.ps.i use fireworks 8.trying to convert to photoshop as it has more features.thanks again guys
