Rendering lighting effects

It seems to me in CS5 the rendering window for lighting effects is way to small.I think it use to be much bigger.
Doing a car for someone earlier I had to turn on the lights but placement of the effect was near impossible, I had to do it 4 or 5 times before I got it right.
I have never seen this asked before or heard of the problem, but is there a way to have the rendering lighting effects window increase in size?it will not zoom in or out...... anyone seen this?

Are we suppose to pick the spot before opening the render filter?

It is too small, I always thought that.
The preview doesn't accurately represent what you're going to get on the image, but it's not any different than it was in CS3 IMHO.
