Hi Tom,
As per your email, I just wanted to make sure it was alright with you first. Anyway, here I am, with my photo.
It features looking through a glass tank, filled with water and blue dye at the base. The most important bit would be to clear up the tank wall reflections. I've been playing around with gimp with the colour levels and balance but the contrast becomes badly affected. (Since the water is also slightly blue due to the dye)
Notice also that there are reflections of the dye on the base of the tank. Would like to get rid of it as well... but not sure if that is possible. What I really what to demonstrate in this figure is to show clearly, how the dye is laid out on the base of the tank. Would be great if you had a way to sort this problem and to learn from you as I've got a number of similar photos to fix.
Cheers,
Mei

Just so everyone is aware of the background of this request for assistance, this person Email'ed me directly, and asked if I could do the job privately (gratis). Because there were no privacy issues involved, I suggested that because other people might be interested in this problem, and this site has a large educational component, he post a general request for help in the forum. I don't know him personally, but let's see if we can help him out.

Mei, I'm not familiar with GIMP, but if u were doing this in Photoshop, the first tool that comes to mind is the "Patch" tool. It wod make short work of those reflections.

Hi Mei -

Since it looks like no one else is interested, I quickly minimized some of the obvious reflections on the LHS of your image. However, on the right hand side, I'm not sure which things are reflections and which are actually in the tank. If you identify the reflections by circling them and send the image back, it would help greatly.
