Say someone uses Photoshop to put a 50% transparent red rectangle somewhere on a phtograph photo1.png, then saves it as photo2.png and sends it to me.

How can I use Photoshop to remove the red rectangle from photo2.png so it would look like the original photo1.png?

I need to know this because I want to remove the orange portion of the image below.

i tried it but failed can you explain it more how you do that

here are the steps how i did it:
1, use the magic wand tool to select the orange area
2, copy-paste this selection to a new layer and place it above the original
3, put a new "color balance" adjustment layer on the copied layer (Layer/New adjustment layer/Color balance) here select "use previous layer to create clipping mask"-this enables you just to change the adjustments of the previous layer
4, play with the colors;)

after getting the right tones the last step is to create a new layer between the original one and the adjusted one and fill a small area with the color picked from the clock hand. place it under the clock hands area.
