Hi!

How would you go about removing the red lens flare in front of the dark trees in the background?
Maybe also the blue one below the couple... but on that I'd probably just paint over with the clone stamp.

Any other ideas for this photo? Can you spot any "bad" edits done already?

Thanks!

cheers,
Daniel

Layers and threshold/selective colour adjustments, and a small grass brush to bring it together.

the grass is just an idea:mrgreen:

When using your clone tool put it into overlay mode so that when you clone the dark area you don't have to be so carefull with the edges on this case.

Or you can select the trees and use a levels adjustment.

Paul and MikeMc: That is a bit too much contrast for my taste :)

The grass is a good idea though :) originally there was a garbage bin in the foreground (lower left corner) which I masked out using the clone tool.

Stric9: by using level adjustments to darken out the flare, I lose too much of the brightness in the sky. Would there be a easy way to select just the trees, with all the detail in the leaves etc? Then it would maybe work.

When using your clone tool put it into overlay mode

How do I do that?

Thanks!

I was working on a post for you alphanimal, but some work I have to do right now. I will work on a post for you when I get free. To put your stamp in overlay mode look at the tool bar at the top and it will have blend modes similar to your layers.

Alphanimal, I was looking at your photo again, and truely I think the easiest was to deal with your issue is to get the burn tool set to midtones and around 20.
1 Duplicate you layer
2 Select the burn tool
3 burn the areas that are red

4 If you get too much burn on other areas use blend if to hide everything but the really dark areas.

I really think this is the easiest way to get a good result. Other methods will require a more complex channels based selection.
