I wanted to select a head from one picture and paste into another. I thought maybe I could use refine edge in my new CS5 and just place it on the background picture. Then I wanted to transform the head so it would be a larger size. When I get it on the background I am not able to change the size using the transform button. Is there another way to do this? When you are dealing with a lot of hair it seems that refine edge would be the correct method of selection. Songbird

As long as it's on it's own layer you should be able to use transform. The keyboard shortcut is ctrl+t.

I guess I need to know how to get my head from refine edge to the second picture and then change the size. I won't know what size to make it unless I see it aginst the second photo. What output do I use from refine edge?

If you want to put that selection on a new image none of the choices will work for you.
Just click OK and then Ctrl+J (Cmd+J on the Mac).
That will put that selection on a new layer.

Then open the new image if it's not already open and drag that layer to the new image..
Resize it there with Transform.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have been wonderng how to accomplish this task for a couple of months now. It was very fun getting the picture of my grandaughter and grandneice together, both smiling at the camera.
