For several weeks I have been experiencing some problems with my RAW editing on my laptop for whenever I open a RAW image with Photoshop, big red stains appear where the photo is too light. It usually isn't a big problem but yesterday I shot some lightnings and in these photos big red stains appear and I have to lower the light almost to the minimum in order for the red stains to disappear. Do you know how to cope with this so called bug? Thanks in advance.

Thats your highlight and lowlight clipping data or simply put where there is no image data because it is either blown out (over exposed or under exposed disable it by clicking the top rioght corner triangle yours is red at the moment as it is activated

oh and for reference that red stain as you refer to it as is not actually part of the image as soon as you open it up in photoshop it will be white with no detail because that spot is over exposed it is just a quick warning for you to fix the exposure in that area before moving on so you can correctly expose your image within a visible range. Thats the beauty of shooting raw it lets you recover data that would be lost of you shot jpeg, Well Most of the time that is

Using those two boxes will help adjust your image, to see which areas are pure...white or black

(black will "show"as blue ) with the other box checked
