This is a new logo I'm working on and I decided to present it at this point using Inkz's template. I'm submitting it and two others I'm working on ... groan ... they're not working for me ... to a new local business. They're aware that the name is not exactly unique but their logic is, IB (imperial beach) doesn't have one yet! The satin effect or color profile? (haven't checked it out yet) altered the colors, but of course, they work well with the black card and the dark boards. I've made a couple different color schemes, one I think works better on a white bg.

Here is my favorite so far

That's really cool Clare. I've always been a big fan of the more simplistic/minimally complex logo's. They seem very professional.

This particular design, IMO, is pretty much the perfect amount of complex and simple. It also gives a perfect representation of what they specialize in(obviously). Love the colors and the font being simple also adds to my liking!

Good Work!

Looks good Aunty. Scissors looks like a Greek Ionic column - classic, stylish , timeless. (LiZad 101 ... hint , hint , hint)

If the colors you've chosen for that is gold, silver and copper, that's a classy look you'll get most especially if printed right. I forgot the printing term for it.... but its not hot-stamping (that's expensive). More like a brushed effect.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks so much Jon. I wish I could bring it together this well all the time. I appreciate our comments.

Aaah, silver wasn't my original intention, but of course, 3 precious metals, all the colors of hair . . . thanks for that.

As for LiZad, tell 'im I keep it in the kitchen with my cookbooks; the important reading! (the bound galley of course, as it's not out in print yet)

Here are a couple presentations

The desk isn't really working; too much jpeg compression. It looks better if you click and enlarge it, but not better enough. Maybe a higher res desk, but I'm running out of patience for it, lol. We'll see . . .

I don't like the colours to much, got a certain childish seventies look to them, also if the 'C' is supposed to represent scissors shouldn't the middle of the finger holes be as the background and not as the scissor colour?

Your idea is a valid attempt at this type of work, did you intend to go for the look you have or was you looking for a more classy/stylish look?

I personally do not do this type of work as i can't to be honest, not my interest or 'bag', but i do like to see others trying new things from within the shop, like other forms of shop you get stuck into you will only get better Clare.

Yep Paul, that's the look they're going for. Colors are pretty 70s; let's see: harvest gold; rust red . . . But I was given no preferences. These can certainly be updated for them. Did you notice that the desk is, btw, 70s style? That is the design for the salon, though that is not a table they could afford.

I often think my style lends itself covers for children's books and posters for the library and zoo kids' days!

As for the "C" point you make, well I probably don't understand. But the scissor handles and blade are a BG element to the orange-red C, just as the comb is BG to the F. The 2-color letter is created by the screen/lowered opacity of the scissor and comb color.

But thank you very much for your critique. You should have seen my logos from years ago. I have learned a lot and have more to learn. I think I will continue to publish newer logos here, rather than start a new thread, till it gets unwieldy anyway. But I don't consider myself "stuck" in logo creation. I have more fun with fantasy manips, though they take longer to make. Hmm, since I discarded a couple other ideas, maybe not.

Time to move on. Changing the colors of the above but not a done deal till the interior decor is finalized. Probably closer to the metallic colors dv8 mentioned. Doesn't seem 70s but we'll see.

I take my dogs walking twice daily. Our morning walk is an hour or so and frequently we hike the trails in the nearby estuary. Often (not during rattlesnake season), we take shortcuts between trails or to the duck pond, etc. I've given each one a nick name for my last four dogs, two currently still with me. Here is a map of the trails and the short red lines represent our shortcuts through the rabbit and squirrel grounds. I wouldn't do it but my dogs respond to voice command and we stick to existing dirt paths.

The four shortcut names are: Denali's Detour; Luci's Loop; Thor's Thinkin'; and Hondo's HIdeaway (which isn't strictly a trail but a destination).

Here is the first.

After a private critique session -- c'mon guys, you can rip me in public! I have altered this to simplify it some, though I am advised it will likely still be too complex. So more work later. I'm happy to hear more opinions and suggestions.

Oh yeah, I was told it looks like Daredevil's logo. I swear it didn't influence me. WHat do they say? Nothing new under the sun.
