The story behind this one: Photographers used to improperly fix their proofs (rather than stamp "proof" on them) so if people didn't order the larger prints, the proofs would turn dark. This couple actually ordered prints and gave the "prints to their parents. Later, because of a fire, the good prints were destroyed, leaving only the dark proofs.
