I am at the following page:

What should I do first?

"Ok lets start by creating a New Document (Ctrl/Cmd+n). The dimensions will be 300x200 pixels, and with a White Background."

OR

"Step 1
Create a new temporary document. Make it 1 pixel by 1 pixel, and with the default white background"

If this is Step 1, then how do I create this "temporary document. Make it 1 pixel by 1 pixel" ?

Before getting into creating the glass/plastic button, we'll need to make a thin pinstriped background

Actually you need to create two documents: first for the background then the button itself.

How can I get the interior pill area?

I see it says that I have to select the square marque around the highlighted area but where actually is this? Could you please show us with an image?
