Hi All,

very new to photoshop and have a basic/daft question.

Is there a way to resize an image to fit a certain size without distorting it so it loses sharpness, clarity etc...

I found an image i'd like to use for a friends website on a stock images site the size being 1688px (w) by 1125px (h) now she wants a banner image 1000px (w) and 300px (h) and wants to somehow resize that image to fit those dimensions, without losing too much sharpness etc... can this kind of thing be achieved or shall we just find a different image.

The next size down on the stock image site was 849x566 so that would be too small right!!! the next size up was 2356x1571 so thats huge and would be too big, so we're left with the medium size of 1688x1125

I told you it was a daft question

I use photoshop cs5

Thanks in advance.

If your downsizing it you should be fine. The problem your going to run into will be making it proportional. Photoshop will make it non-proportional by unchecking constrain proportions but it might not look too good.
