Hi all, I'm new on here and found your photography forum, not sure how to navigate this app yet so any help would be appreciated, I'm a keen photographer and collector with over150 cameras dating from 1915 to new digital.

Hi gda,

OP: "...I'm a keen photographer and collector with over150 cameras dating from 1915 to new digital..."

Welcome aboard!!!

I'm a photographer, as well, but unlike you am definitely not a collector (...at least intentionally, LOL). I made my wife *very* happy when, about a month ago, I sold a bunch of cameras and lenses in excellent condition to KEH, and donated those I couldn't sell to a local photography / art school.

That being said, I do love looking at historic / antique cameras and lenses. In fact, I did keep one of my lenses from the 1960's, a pre-AI Nippon Kogaku (aka, Nikon) (Sonnar design?) 105/2.5 in very good condition. A bit of it's history is here:
http://www.nikkor.com/story/0045/ (scroll down to section III)

I used that lens for years on an original Nikon F body, and took many fine photos with it, including some of my first image sales. A few months ago, I mounted it to one of my d700 bodies and it still took very nice pix. I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of that one --- too many good memories.

Anyway, we would love to see some of your work. Start up a thread and let's talk photos... or lenses ... or whatever!

Best regards,

Tom M
