I traced an object on using the pen/shape tool and when I control+select the path, it give me a jagged edge once I apply a mask; I've been doing this for years and never come across it; I know it has something to do with anti-aliasing; this has never happened to me before so I'm quite baffled.

Do you have the image at hand you are trying to cut out...

Post it in if you can, then I will try and discover whats happening.
