I must have hit some key unintentionally but it's so slow I can't really select anything. Nothing else is slow, magnetic, lasso, crop tool, etc so any suggestions to speed it up are really appreciated. I'm stuck right now.
Thanks
Stan

i have the same problem sometimes , but ive never figured it out , generally a close down or reboot seems to help , sometimes my scroll resize is really slow too , i havent figured that one out yet either , be keeping an eye on this post , hope an easy answer is posted

nope. No strange messages, tried 2 reboots, went through the performance tabs as suggested in other tabs etc and still nothing. Smoking fast still in CS5 so that's what I have to use as I need to make selections for final sharpening.
Have the same CS 6 Cloud on my laptop and no problems there.

Try resetting the preferences file.
It cures a lot of strange behavior in PS.

Start Photoshop and immediately hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).

Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Finally found it, for some reason the scratch disk in performance (my hard drive) was no longer checked. clicked on it and now it works fast like it did before. Don't know how or why it became unchecked.
