Although I know a few basis photoshop editing steps, most of it takes a lot of time which I dont always have.

Please suggest some quick editing tips which just gives a better look to pictures in general without spending too much time on the photos.

thank you for the help

I would say one of the fastest is, duplicate image and try layer modes

Every image is different so different results will produce every time

The only way anyone can answer your question is to first know what aspect of your pictures you are typically unhappy with: exposure, brightness, color, sharpness, composition, lighting, etc.

Of course, there are programs and plug-ins which supposedly will automatically check, and attempt to adjust many of these things, but I would take their claims with a large grain of salt. I've never been satisfied with any of them, and I've tried many.

For me, the biggest improvement I have made recently in my speed of basic editing is to use Lightroom. The "develop" module of LR is exactly the same as ACR, except with a better user-interface as well as some archiving and cataloging capabilities, as well as a huge improvement in the handling of presets and the ability to apply them to groups of photos quickly, and at the same time.

You might want to look into LR, but be warned that it takes quite a hefty computer, otherwise it will run very very slowly.

I guess if we're going to promote programs I would go with TOPAZ. The amount of presets they have is incredible

Restyle you say? I'll have to check that out Pop..I mean iDad.
To the OP, if you have PS you more than likely have ACR already. I have my preferences set to open all jpgs and tiffs in ACR first. Many times you can make corrections there and never have to open the image in PS. Tom is right on about Lightroom too, I have the latest and greatest version and it is powerful. It runs fine on my Dell laptop with 8gb of ram, their core processor and an Intel graphics card.

The new Restyle is really cool worth every penny, that link goes to them all

Larry Restyle just came out I was in beta with it, it's incredibly easy

Hi iDad - As you know, I absolutely love Topaz products. However, I consider them all ( and certainly their latest release) to be tools for optional "enhancements" and stylization of images, not for basic editing, so I have to pretty strongly disagree with recommending these to the OP to speed up his basic editing.

For example, can you imagine trying to do the initial editing of a thousand images from an afternoon sporting event or a vacation using a set of Topaz plugins vs using something like Lightroom?

Cheers,

T

I don't use Lightroom. I cannot compare but if you can create an action with plugin I don't see a problem.

Op asked and i quote:

He as been given options to that request as he not?
One mans opinion is not the be all and all guys.

Like I said, I do not use Lightroom I can not compadre. But I maintain Topaz will give a better look to pictures in general without spending too much time on the photos, which is what he asked I'm not promoting anybody I just answered the question. I'm not nitpicking words either. I sense a disturbance in the force here, somebody is not happy.... too much coffee? lol

Are you implying that even a mentally impaired person can use Restyle. That would be an implication that I fall into that category!
Anyhow, I reckon I am, because I went right on over there and paid $59.99 for it in error. I had a discount coupon for $29.99 and I completely did not see the place to enter the code. I was thinking that it would give me the option at the end of the transaction. I paid it with PayPal and never saw the opportunity to enter the code. Too late. Oh well, will check and see if they will have mercy on an old man.

However, that thing is awesome. Huge number of effects and a lot of control. I enjoyed experimenting with it after I got it last night. Here is a painting that I did this last week. This is modeled after the famous sculpture End of the Trail. I used the new Topaz to apply the effect.

You should write them a letter probably refund the difference, I don't know I would think they would.. show them the code within your letter, not the forum.... just a thought
