thinking about upgrading to the newer version of photoshop.
not sure if elements is what i need, i know i can d/l the trial, but thought i'd ask before i start fumbling around.
my needs are basic, to me.
i use photoshop to:
- open images and edit them, add existing graphics (cut/paste)
- add text images (with standard fonts and fonts i've added)
- proportionally reduce image sizes with minimal loss
- save image as jpg, gif, png, tif, ico, bmp, etc., without color or quality loss
- make images using basic layering, including shadowing and fading
- make rounded corners for images
- crop images
i'm very familiar with these utilizing these functions in photoshop 6, and the only other editing software i have is ms paint, and that doesn't seem to handle gifs and jpgs properly (color loss, image quality reduction).
basically, i manipulate small graphics and create navigation tabs for websites. my needs are not great, and 75 bucks for pshop elements looks intriguing.
SO.
will photoshop elements do all that i ask? or will i need the full version.

also, and this is separate so don't let it influence the above question, i've always wondered how to open an image that is marked as "vector image", and the description always is that you can take that image and scale it to any size without image loss or deterioration. i was told a long time ago that you can't open those type of images and manipulate them with photoshop, and since i don't use those type of images, i haven't gone further into finding out. but since i'm here...![Smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)

thanks for the help, in advance. if you have a question about javascript, i can return the favor.
