If somebody sends me a PSD file that contains a text layer in a font that is not installed in my version of Photoshop, what will happen when I open that PSD file? Will it display the text in the font that was sent, even though I don't have that font myself? Or will it default to some other font?

Thanks
Rich

I have opened a PSD file that I know contains a font I don't have installed. Yes, the text displays in the original font that the file came with.

You will receive a message:

And the text layer will display a warning icon as well:

The Character Panel will show the missing font in parenthesis:

If you double click the font layer to change you will receive this warning:

Hope that helps.
