Hello! I've been using Photoshop CS3 to make digital paintings for a little while now and I've finally decided that I want to have some fine art prints made (specifically as gifts). I've read all about ICC profiles and the like, prepared my images to a point where I think they'll look good and was all set to go until I thought I'd better make a test print on my inkjet just to be on the safe side (I know it's an inkjet, which isn't exactly the same as printing giclee but I wanted an approximation at least). Only now when I print my image from Photoshop it prints... weirdly. As in, the colours are almost posterized? It's hard to describe, perhaps I should upload a scan of the print, but it's like there's no "mid-tones" when the colour transitions (and the colour transitions A LOT).
Oddly, when I print from other programs, like the Microsoft Print Wizard in Windows Explorer, the print looks fine, so it's definitely a PS problem. I'm very new to this print stuff, I had no idea that it would be so complicated with the settings and everything! My big concern now is that when send them to the printers, they'll look the way they print on my home printer, which is looks terrible! I need to get these paintings ready because I'm giving them away throughout September. I'd be super grateful for any suggestions!
