I upgraded to PS '14. Could no longer launch [edit in] from LR. Uninstalled and then reinstalled PS. Reinstalled plug-ins.

It can be launched from LR now.

However when I go to the program in windows and right click and select pin to taskbar, it does appear there, but it appears as a white sheet of paper with folded corner icon.

How do I make it appear as the blue and aqua icon with PS in it? If I create a shortcut on the desktop it appears as normal.

I always a little surprised that a company that can make so many cool, complicated and well done products cannot make a decent installer or uninstaller.

regards, David

This sounds more like a registry issue than a PS issue personally. WHich of course if I show you how to fix may actually make the problem worse.

Questions that should be asked before trying anything.
WHat version of windows are you using?
I assume you are referring to elements
is this happening only to this 1 program.

easy and safe methods
delete the shortcut on taskbar
go to c: > Program files> Adobe> Photoshop
right click the Photoshop.exe file and try pinning that to taskbar if that worked then great job done

if still missing icon
right click and do send to desktop
Is that showing the proper icon if so then restart your computer and see if it fixes itself

if still not working clear your temp files using windows clean up by steve Gould or disk cleanup built into windows

right click the shortcut on the desktop and choose properties > change icon and then navigate back to your ps directory you should have a .ico file there which should be the default icon see if that fixes it and then pin that shortcut to the task bar

run ccleaner and then use the 2nd tab labelled registry cleaner and fix all issues

rebuild your icon database http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

uninstall ps and reinstall

I recently had the same problem with a Win7 x64 PC, Hoogles suggestion is exactly the solution I used to fix it.

The only difference is that it wasn't neccessary to uninstall and re-install PS, just a restart of the PC was enough.

If you're on a PC you may find just re-building the icon database and a restart is all you need.

Well thanks much guys! Rebuilding the icon database with that batch file did it.

For future reference this was win 8.1 and PS CC '14.

best, David

When I upgraded to PS2014, I did not realize that their was actually a completely new program downloaded. I was expecting to see the changes when I opened PS CC as usual from my desktop shortcut. After scratching my head for a couple of minutes, I thought to look at the programs folder and there it was, PS2014. So that required a new shortcut on the desktop, leaving PS CC there also with the same. Point is, be sure your working with 2014 and not the CC program. It's really pretty different from the CC splash screen.
