Here... try this in PS CS.

This will make your doc sizes MUCH smaller, thus taking less resources to run them. It was just released recently by Adobe. Here's what they have to say about this plugin:

"The Adjusted Refresh plug-in addresses the time it takes to visually preview some filter updates in Photoshop CS. This plug-in reduces the size of the Photoshop image tiles. This causes the display to redraw in smaller pieces, reducing the time it takes to see the updated preview. The Adjusted Refresh plug-in will also reduce the initial scratch disk usage after launching Photoshop. Note that overall performance may be reduced for users with multiple processors or more than 1 Gigabyte of RAM."

--------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
Windows:
1. Exit Photoshop CS.
2. Copy or move the Adjusted Refresh.8bx plug-in from your download folder to Program
Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\Extensions.

Mac:
1. Quit Photoshop CS.
2. Copy or move the Adjusted Refresh plug-in from your download folder to Applications/Adobe
Photoshop CS/Plug-Ins/Extensions.
--------------------------------------------------------------

PS: if this has already been posted somewhere around here, let me know and i'll delete this thread. I can't recall where/how i came to know about this plugin. ;\ :D

I'm not a CS user, but I am *very* glad that they got those things fixed. Man, talk about wreaking havoc on various forums.
If they do a point release or a service pack patch thing, I hope that the fix is incorporated.

Ya i agree Stroker. This is a most welcome 'fix' indeed. Albeit, i don't think it alone will force Adobe to create a patch persay... perhaps more snafus will be discovered which will lead to that. Hopefully...

Speaking of snafus actually... my biggest pet peave about CS, although one of the reasons i upgraded unfortunately, is the new way that the "Filter Gallery" filters are presented/applied. Although at first glance having them ALL open into one application window may seem a good idea, it's actually very annoying!

Why? Simply because i don't feel that "new feature" was implemented properly. I don't think the "concept" of it is even finished. So why'd they bother putting a half-baked idea into a major release?!
All you can do is apply multiple filters over top of each other. So what?! Why didn't they get smart about it and add (or copy'n'paste) the blend modes and opacity functions as well?! At least then it would be worth waiting for that clunky application window to chug its way open just so i could run ONE simple filter. [upset] Sheeeesh! Talk about dropping the ball... :\ \:]

They should've thought it through more, and made the "multi-filter" window an option, or preference... instead of making it all or nothing. That's my opinion anywho... }:\

I couldn't agree more! I have 1 gb of ram and CS alrady uses more than its share. When the new filter gallery opens it takes more time than I am willing to live with. WEll... i have to live with it but, I don't have to like it!

I'd love to see more features/options added and the speed/time it takes to open improved. I can see the folks at Adobe rolling their eyes. LOL I do apprecite the program...love the beast. They (adobe) kicked butt with the improvement to the file browser... would love to see this improved as well.

Just my thoughts. [excited] Hatch

You're welcome Lee. Happy to oblidge. :righton:

I couldn't agree more Hatch. I hope they don't wait too too long to address this issue. I'm quite sure they're aware of it. Just hope they're working on it aws. :B

Exactly!!! I couldn't agree more! It's a pain... all I need is a single filter and every time I have to open this big fat slow plugin... yuck!
I don't understand why they didn't combine it and use an option in preferences to switch between the two..

I love making textures, lots of people do, and for me and them this new approach is a real crime! [upset]

I just hope that this is not a new trend, because then Photoshop CS might be the last version I ever bought! }:\
