Hi all,

Sorry I've not been around. Busy with life and very involved with the 3D world. I recently built a new computer. In getting all my old favorite programs reinstalled I have found that when I am trying to export using the PNG format with alpha well the alpha is quite strange. If I view it in Irfanview it gives this weird effect like there is a background in certain areas, more directly in back of the main image.

Maybe it's Irfanview but no I just checked it out in XNView as well and the same thing. [saywhat]

Any ideas folks about what's causing this strange exprort bug?? Is there an specific update I need.

The image in jpg is a direct save to that format in Irfanview so you can see what I'm talking about.

Thanks

Richard :surprised:

That background shouldn't be there. It's saved with full alpha!! That's how it displays though in Irfanview and XNView!! When I first saved the image from DAZ Studio Irfanview displays it correctly. When I took it into PS-CS to edit it a bit and then re-saved the image as a PNG with alpha that's what I got. If I import it into Xara Xtreme or back into PS-CS it's fine, the background is not showing up!

VERY odd behavior. It's the viewers, it's not DAZ Studio and it's not Xara Xtreme! It's something that going on with Photoshop!

Any ideas?? Solutions?? ??

Thanks

Richard :)

if you save for web as a .png 8 it converts to index color. If there is transparency (drop shadow) .png 8 puts a bounding box (but usually white) under the image. It could be something has gone wrong with your .png format plug. the only one I can find is .png.8bi. Have you tried re-installing Photoshop?
