Problems with paste in place

Hello,

Can somebody help me please, I'm having problems with the 'paste in place' command In Photoshop CS5.

When I make a selection using either the rectangular or elliptical marquee tool, cut, then paste in place the selection is pasted to a new layer but with what appears to be a very fine (about 1 pixel) transparent stroke around it!

How can I avoid this happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry, just realised I can post images, I hope this better illustrates the problem

If you want to just clone that part of the layer, the easiest thing to do would be to use the elliptical select and then hit ctrl+J which puts that selection into a new layer. If you want to delete that part of the original image, just ctrl+click the new layer in the layers panel to call the selection up again and hit delete with the right layer selected. It helps to have feather set to 0 on your selection tool as well.

Many thanks for your reply BlueInGreen, all good and helpful.
I'll put together some more images to better illustrate what I'm trying to achieve and if you feel inclined perhaps you might try and help me further. Strangely, feather is set to zero - that was my first thought.

That is help. If it is and you post back some people may try to give you additional help. But not me, you have a childish attitude.
How does saving a picture create further problems? Do you not know how to save a jpg?
