Problem with Photoshop slow, wont save, Locks up.

Im wondering if someone can please tell me what is happening with my Photoshop CS2 , Ive never had any problems with this software but past two days its been acting up, I created some artwork in Photoshop, and Im haveing trouble with the file it wont open sometimes it does open then, just closes all of a sudden, then when I go to save it locks up and I have to force quit photoshop in order to get out of the program. Does anyone know what is going on here . If you can help please let me know thank you.

If it runs on windows, I would check memory and CPU consumption, antivirus, free space on scratch disks and o course, restart the whole PC. I hope something helps.

Try resetting the preferences file.
It cures a lot of strange behavior in PS.


Start Photoshop and immediately hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).


Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Thanks for all the help I will go ahead and try this , I was thinking of reinstalling Adobe photoshop.
