So whenever I make a line in photoshop cs5 that around the size of one pixel, instead of a nice line like this _____________ I get a line like this_ _ _ _ ___ _ ___ __ Help please!

not sure if you're creating spaced lines or not but if you're making one pixel line let's say straight across hold the shift button down while you're creating the line

When I make straight lines with the shift key its fine, its when I try to go free form with the line that it starts to make all the spaces.

sometimes spaces, sometimes a jagged line. It kind of mixes it up. Whenever I do a line quickly, the line normally breaks up more, where as when I do a line slower, it doesn't break as much.

Freeform? At one pixel, even the most microscopic upward or downward movement or placement of the anchor points will cause that jagginess. You can see the difference if you use 2 or 3 pixels - the freeform line looks more perfect.

well, I guess not freeform. What I meant was that I am not using the shift key. The wierd thing is, depending on the size of the image, it may or may not be jagged, even at 1 pixel.

As dv8 said even the most microscopic will create that. Get used to using the shift button if you want to go straight across , straight up
If you need to, zoom in very large and try to make your lines. This is when a tablet is really handy using a mouse is very tricky

Well, I actually do have a tablet, but I still get the problem. I saved an image of the line break, but after trying to resize it in paint.net, the image just fixed its self after I resized it.

The resizing causes pixelation of the line so it appears perfectly straight if viewed normally. Zoom up to it and it may not look like the one pixel line as it was first created..

Just an afterthought... where you zoomed in to the line when you were viewing it in PS? Yes it will show jagginess. At normal view, it's unnoticeable.

It might. You wouldn't know unless you experiment....... give it a go. But save the file first before you do anything further that way you can revert to the original. And don't save the file unless your certain its to your expectations.

And that will depend on your image. Resize the canvas , Resize the entire image slightly up or down..... Not too big or the entire image might have degradation.
