Problem with creating HD images.

Haha, I think I spotted your problem.
When you make a new Image, you put in:
1280 inches
720 inches
72 pixels/inch

so you are actually making it
92160x51840 px image that is the reason you're lagging

when you make a new canvas
make it 1280 px instead of inch width, by clicking on the down arrow next to "inches"
