Quickmasking allows you to make semi-transparent selections. What's probably happening is that when you make the quickmask you aren't making it with 100% black and white as your fill colors, or you have the mask blurry in some area. When you return to the standard edit mode, the marching ants won't show that it's only partially selected, but it will be. So quickmask is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, you just need to get used to the tool. :)

Make sure that you have your colors set to 100% black and white (you can hit the letter D on the keyboard to return to defaults or you can click the little tiny icon in the corner of the foreground/background color selector or you can just go into the colors and change them manually).

Welcome to PSG.

What is our favorite program/app? (Hint - it begins and ends with the letter P)
