Possible to save an image with LAB channel A turned off?

Hello - this a weird one. I was working in LAB and turned off chanel a. The color then became exactly, perfectly what I was looking for. So far I have not been able to save the image without that chanel coming back on. Is this even possible? Its an underwater shot, so loosing all that color is perfect. I tried to simulate it otherwise, but it isn't the same.

Ok - well, I figured it out. It is possible. Save as a PSD - change to 16 bit, take the channel you do NOT want, put a 50% gray fill on it, save again and bada bing.

Oh, no worries - I wasn't feeling ignored! I was just desperate! LOL - but thank you for looking for me - I'm no whiz at PS, believe me - my work is very, very straightforward as a rule and requires little work (old BW shooter) ButI got this bright idea to buy this idiot underwater pocket Olympus with the (I kid you not) "fruit and vegetable" setting (not to be confused with its partner setting - the "flower" setting, because the Olympus apparently knows the difference between a squash and a pansy) - anyway - it is greeeeeen. Too green to do anything with, to speak of.
So I have to fix it - googled, found you guys, then googled the problem. Didn't want to continue trying to do something if it could not be done. Called all my considerable PS people, all said, no way. AFound out it could be done - but the suggestion was a nuetral fill. No clue what aqny of this means (I'm no LAB specialist - use it for burn and dodge for obvious reasons) - and then when I found fill, there it was! And it worked! I'm so proud of myself, you cannot believe it! Not bad for an old lady!!!

Well, from an old man, I'm glad you found a fix.

Make sure you come back and visit with us.
You're obviously a knowledgeable lady and we would love to have LAB expert around to help out. :)

LOL - I assure you that I am anything but an expert! I use LAB for burning and dodging, only. I am pretty inept. You should have seen my happy ass jumping around when I managed this today! LOL - would have thought I had discovered the wheel!
