Hello all! I am working on a movie poster design for an independent film maker. I've read that you really only need a resolution of 150 dpi or so to have a nice looking poster print. Is that correct? Wouldn't a resolution of 300 dpi be better? Especially if the viewers want to look closely? Thanks.

Are you designing as a vector project with AI or totally in Photoshop. If vector, your resolution independent. Three hundred for print is pretty much the standard, but you can "get by" with less if the bitmap content is high to begin with. As you are aware, higher resolution with proper content will allow for pretty close scrutiny.

Thanks for the reply, Larry. I'm creating it entirely in Photoshop. I'm thinking mostly a black background with text and a rendering of Earth.
