Picture into rubble

I am looking for a way to turn a picture of a granite sign into a pile of rubble. I want different sized pieces that I can manipulate so certain pieces of the sign would show in the pile. Any ideas?

I don't know how much help this will be, but it has some basic ideas you can use. http://arenacreative.com/blog/tutorials/exploding-bits-and-pieces-photoshop-tutorial-part-1-of-2/

Also, use the transform distort, warp, and perspective tools in subtle ways and you'll add to your rubble shape effects. Experiment with layer effects. When you apply them, the bevel especially but check out others like drop shadow, go down to the gloss contours. Changing that on some of the pieces may add to their rugged look. I like the rings contour for that. You might even find inner glow set on center with a zero choke useful. IDK since you haven't posted your image, nor do I know the results you want.

See if any of these helps you along. Then post your progress. That way we can give you better suggestions. Good luck and have fun.
