Im curious if someone can help me.... ;\

i just redesigned my website - I thought it was about time to add a forum to my site - so i did. ive done it before for others but i finnaly did one for myself bla bla bla...

anyways, [confused]
you know the top logo of the forums that basicly brings you back to the front page of the forum, well i want that to bring viewers back to my index.html page of my site not the index page of the forums.

Ive been trying to dig around the php files to find the one i need to edit, but as you probably know there are a ton

-would I go into the template folder and chose the folder of the template im using, or do you think it is in the main forums folder??? \:]

if you dont know what im talking about.. what im looking for is the same way this site is setup so when you click the top logo you go back to the websites index.html page. :righton:

please help :D

jbr0530 yea that is default setting when you get the phpBB package, I just installed one myself so I will wait patirntly for the aswer to your post - like to do the same thing

well ive been diggin round

Well ive been digging around and found what ii think is the file.

its the overall_header.tpl
file that is in the Template folder of the template I am using.

I found a line of code that looks like this...

<a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="templates/skyLineGrey/images/logo.gif" width="182" height="109" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}"></a>

So im guessing that {U_INDEX} is what I would change but im not sure if it is ok to just put {index.html} in place of {U_INDEX}

think im on the way - just a little help would be great.

Yea Bud you got it right worked for me too. :righton:

Only problem I'm having now is with the cookies, tried everything but no go yet.

Hey sorry i was late on this one guys.

Glad to see you figured it out on your own though. That's how ya learn. ;)

You're correct in what you've done to change the url in that link. And you can feel free to do that for any other urls you may want/need to change. The Forum won't suffer for it. Just keep in mind though that when installing Mods to your board... some may be looking for those php links. So if you have a problem with a certain kind of Mod, don't forget to check that out too.

Rick the cookie functions on this Forum are very basic. If you're having trouble with that, it's most likely because you've put in the wrong PATH for the setting. Double-check that.
What exactly is the problem anywho? :B

cool bro

hey man
-better late then never...
- plus your insight explained it to me a little better - so I will keep an eye out when installing some mods :righton:

thanks buddy...

\:] -by the way do you mind if I link to some of your tutorials

my site is going to be all graphic related

Well Mark I am a little confused, the cookies work fine for me if I access the board from the Admin panel, and the Admin panel will remember me, so the cookie is working fine there, But if I access the board directly the cookie dosen't work. I am wondering if the person with Admin privledges should only come to the board through the Admin panel. Haven't heard if users registering on the board are haveing a problem yet. I would appreciate if you would go and test it for me, and let me know if works for you.

I have checked the PHPBB forum, and I am pretty sure I have the right settings.

BTW is the things that displays the number of post since last visit a Mod you added, or is it there somewhere?

Thanks
Rick

Ya that's a MOD Rick.

Don't forget that the cookies are also controlled by each member when they Login. Each member can choose whether the cookies are active for them or not.

Yea your right Mark, I think it must be working OK, I went down to my wifes office and logged in there and it seemed to save the cookie ok. Thanks for the help
